Welcome

Welcome to my website. My name is Curtis, but most people call me ... Curtis. I'm a Storyteller; the dictionary defines a storyteller as, a person who tells or writes stories; a person who tells lies; fibber. I'm also an actor; the dictionary defines an actor as, a theatrical performer. One who pretends.
So you've come to the website of either a lying pretender or a storyteller with a flair for theatrics. Take a few minutes to get to know me; you'll discover that I'm simply a storyteller with a flair for theatrics.

Further in and higher up

My interest in reading and writing began at an early age. Visits to the library were always a highlight. I loved adventures with Tom Sawyer and The Hardy Boys. Stories by Jules Vern and Ray Bradbury captured my imagination.
Summertime always included a trip to my famly's small, rural home town. Everything was more real in that little town. Aromas were richer; berries were sweeter; apples were tarter; trees were taller and nights were hotter. Darrius Green and I would sit in the dusty hayloft of my uncle's barn, dreaming of flying away. Grain silos were spaceships ready for takeoff, bringing me to the moon and faraway planets. Abandoned railroad tracks begged me to build a rocket sled and travel along them at bullet speed
Also I have always, since my youth, been called upon to read aloud. So it was natural for me to develop the God-given talent of my voice. The allure of the stage began in elementary school and has been a part of my life, in some form, ever since. As I studied theater, I did everything I could - performing, set designing, directing - to enhance my experiences. As a result, I received a tremendous amount of education and experience. Working as an actor I learned what was needed to 'find the light'; this lesson I have applied in other areas of my life as well. While attending the University of Washington, I had opportunity to receive voice coaching. That opportunity helped to develop my talents toward becoming a professional actor and storyteller. Various opportunities to be on radio, television, and stage have given me much enjoyment and experience.
Attending Church, while growing up, made me as much of a Christian as sitting in a garage made me a Corvette. However, in 1976 while serving in the US ARMY, I was introduced to the living Lord Jesus and given a new life. My heart was made alive and I came to know the Creator of everything, my Father in heaven. In 1985 I became a lay-minister in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Around this time I also began to blend my passion for theater with ministry. Acting and storytelling gave me a passion for words. Early ventures into writing included skits for church and dramatic monologues. I dabbled in technical writing for scientific journals, but found my voice in storytelling. After completing many short stories, I decided that I wanted to finish a novel. Failing at my first few attempts, I finally completed my first novel, Dean Ransom, Restored.
It is my hope that through stories I can inspire, entertain, and reveal the Way, the Truth and the Life; his name is Jesus.

This webpage, like me, is under construction. Return again and you will hopefully find something new.
